We are pleased to share Loisaba Conservancy’s 2024 Impact Report—a year defined by the successful reintroduction of eastern black rhinos, strengthened community partnerships, and enhanced landscape protection. Our progress is the result of collaboration with dedicated partners, staff, and local communities. Thank you for being part of this journey.

  • In 2024, Loisaba supported over 4,000 children with school meals, awarded 83 scholarships, and treated more than 2,300 patients through community health outreach. The Chui Mama Centre gained a permanent home, strengthening women-led enterprises and conservation efforts. Across the landscape, communities earned over Ksh. 4 million from cultural tourism and crafts.

  • Twenty-one eastern black rhinos returned to Loisaba, marking a historic milestone. The birth of two calves, Valentine and Seiya’s unnamed newborn, symbolises the beginning of a new generation. Advanced technology, including LoRa trackers and EarthRanger, is shaping our efforts in rhino monitoring, predator management, and habitat connectivity.

  • Zero poaching incidents were recorded in 2024. Our teams covered over 150,000 km in aerial, vehicle, and foot patrols. The K9 unit, camera traps, and drones all played a role in ensuring 24/7 protection of wildlife and communities, while continued training keeps our teams prepared for emerging challenges.

  • Tourism at Loisaba. In 2024, tourism continued to play a critical role in sustaining Loisaba’s conservation efforts. With nearly 50% of the conservancy’s annual operating budget generated through tourism revenue, visits to Loisaba’s three Elewana properties—Lodo Springs, Tented Camp, and Star Beds—directly supported our work across conservation, community development, and security. Guest experiences also contributed to local livelihoods through employment, cultural tourism, and craft sales.
